All of us have an idea of our dream home, which is full of wonder and it is something we believe we can be. But architecture, even now has been quite resistant to change in context to a significant number of structures that we see today. We become locked up in the same mundane walls if we see the same type of architecture around, which has the same lights and materials. But, there is always iconic architecture that inspires people to think outside of the box while building their dream home.
Architects are now interested in creating what has never been built or imagined before. It is now not restricted by materials like concrete and steel. Great buildings that we talk about, like the pyramids of Giza, cathedrals, pagodas, or temples have just been someone’s wild idea full of wonder at once but realized by the intelligence of design and a desire to do something creative!
With a belief in the future, architects are now driven by optimism to try something new and abstract. At places like the National assembly building, in Bangladesh, or The Lovre, Paris, the vigor and energy of architecture have directed the entire political and social structure.
These new spaces speak volumes of emotions and are not mute but expressive! It may disturb us, and why not? Buildings should be engaging and emotive and go beyond normal to break the shackles of monotony, to illicit tension and unexpected wonder! Such structures communicate to their users and thus are retained in one’s memory. As an architect, it’s my responsibility to create a dream home that is lively, vibrant, and diverse which transforms and raises most simple activities to a completely different expectation.
